The central drama and Event of Truth of the History of the Filipino People was the same epochal epiphany that gave birth to it as a distinct nation and a people free and glorious in its revolutionary sovereignty crystallized and enacted and enforced as such in and as the Revolutionary Fight to the Death for Freedom. The Filipino nation as the Sovereign Filipino People was born as the Katipunan Revolution, as the Katipunan Revolutionary People. This is why until poet-philosopher and historian Domingo DC de Guzman discovered more than thirty years ago how the truth of, and about, the Katipunan-Philippine Revolution had wholly and entirely been suppressed, perverted and inverted for more than a hundred years now by all the Filipino historians, writers and intellectuals without a single exception, at the behest of the most corrupt ruling class in world history (the only one such to have betrayed and sold a revolution and a people three times to three colonialisms: this is also the monstrous and macabre and malignant reason why the Philippines has now become the world’s most corrupt country—despite and against that fountainhead of everything great, glorious, and true, in the Filipino people, namely the Katipunan Revolution--: it was corrupted and twisted and perverted so by the most corrupt ruling class in the world), there was no such thing as Philippine history . And that is why having unearthed and carved it from out of a mountain of lies and downright inversions across these thirty years, DDC de Guzman can say in glittering poetic and literal truth that he discovered Philippine History, and that he has quite singlehandedly rescued it from that criminal oblivion, and liberated it from that malevolent suppression, of a hundred years and more, and why and how he can declare somewhere in these volumes this new history as his immortal and absolutely unique gift to the Filipino People.

Legend has it that hoards of treasures, which are part of the Japanese Imperial Army's loot from various temples and museums of Asia that date back to the Old Word were stocked by the Japanese in Fort Santiago, Manila during the last year of Word War II or in 1945. The treasures came from Old Babylon, the temples of India and Southeast Asia. Fearing confiscation by the British forces that were controlling China if they transport it by land, the precious loot was shipped by the Japanese from Singapore to the Philippines by commandeering civilian merchant vessels. Sometime in July 1944, after crossing the Sulu Sea and the West Philippine Sea the said ships unloaded treasures at the Port of Manila. When the Japanese forces were already certain of their defeat in the Philippines, they chose to retreat towards the mountain ranges of the Gran Cordillera taking with them their looted treasure. They used the rugged and seldom used trail going to Bessang Pass at Cervantes, Ilocos Sur and planned to cross the mountains and escape through the Pacific Ocean using the natural port of Palanan at the eastern tip of the Province of Isabela.

Author wanted to tell people about his Negro family's hardship. "There may be hundreds or thousands of stories similar to my family. The witness is history and one thing about slavery is we should never forget it. There is some hate and resentment; but there is understanding, on the part of the ex-Slave generation, Negroes never had the time to hate, but they do have a reason."

Each photo that Marcial S. Valenzuela took was a canvass of his artistic skill. Aside from dramatic news photos, the pictures he shot also highlighted the lighter side of life. Some of them won plum awards in annual photo contests. Whenever an opportunity presented itself, he was always quick with his camera. He sees things in detail which only his creative imagination could see. The result is always stunningly beautiful as those presented in the next pages taken mostly at the time when his country was just getting out of the ashes of WWII. Marcial was part of that “manual adjustment” era when sharpness of judgment and experience will tell you which aperture (opening) to adjust in your camera lens in relation to the light that is available; and with what speed you should capture the moment, unlike in today’s digital and hybrid cameras and lenses which give both the amateur and professional photographers a wide menu of automatic adjustments--- making picture-taking a walk in the park.

Life is not a repetitive cycle. It is a journey with its ups and downs – and there is a destination. Yes, there is something more to life. But it is not something; it is Someone. Someone has been walking with me since the beginning. This Someone is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Author's hope is that the readers will know that Jesus is walking with them, too; and that they will find some of these Meditations helpful as they do their own reflections about their own faith.
